Plot of the play: When Dad and Mom arrive back home earlier
than expected,

Summary
of Act one: Mom and Dad return from vacation a day earlier than expected,
only to find Eric playing soccer in the living room, the dog sick and
starving, money for dog food gone and the house in a mess, which causes a big
fight.

？ Why does Daniel ask Eric not to explain to their parents?
？ Why does Dad think that they have to punish Daniel?

主题语境：人与社会——文学

文本分析：
本课是一篇戏剧剧本。故事叙述的是美国一个小家庭的矛盾冲突。这个戏剧发生在美国的
Eric 和 Daniel 家。爸爸妈妈外出，留下两个孩子照顾家，照顾他们的宠物狗。结果爸爸妈妈提前回家，看到家中狼藉一片，对两个孩子，尤其是对Daniel 大动肝火，Daniel 愤愤离开……
戏剧的特点是矛盾冲突以及戏剧的可饰演性。文本以对话形式呈现，辅助以舞台说明。语言简洁，多有省略表达。重点词汇主要涉及mess的细节描写，人物动作和情感相关词汇frightened, upset, be supposed to, fault, defend, emergency,
deserve, be hard on, rude。本文的价值取向在于学生通过本文的学习，学会处理好、协调好人际交往中的
误解与矛盾冲突。和谐交流是课文学习的教育思想的体现，也是德育的一个方面。
学情分析：
本班学生英语基础好，学习态度较认真，学习热情高。学生了解戏剧的形式，具备了在阅读中获取细节信息的能力，部分学生能用英语自信地表达观点。但是多数学生的概括能力，表达以及论证自己观点，以及评价人物性格方面比较欠缺。
教学目标：
在本科学习结束时，学生能够：
1. 识别戏剧的文本特征和了解戏剧的阅读策略。
2. 概括、整合该戏剧的主要情节。
3. 推断人物情感，并用台词和舞台说明举例论证。
4. 总结家庭冲突的根源，解决家庭冲突的方法——冷静，理智地沟通，做负面情绪的主人。
教学重点：
学生通过阅读，获取戏剧的主要情节，整合推断出人物情感和心理活动。声情并茂地表演戏剧片段。
教学难点：
概括主要情节时，用词的准确性。分析人物情感和解决矛盾冲突的方法。
